Dar Williams is one of those singer-songwriters who will never make it big, but enjoys a solid reputation among her more famous peers, who gladly lend her a hand every now and then. Writing and recording since 1993, her new album Promised Land deals yeat again with serious matters such as the infamous "Buzzer" experiment conducted at Yale in the sixties and rocky relationships (The Tide Falls Away). There are two covers: Fountains of Wayne’s Troubled Times, and Midnight Radio by composer Stephen Trask.
The uninitiated may fall for her smooth licks, those who care to listen will find a hidden treasure in nearly every song. Guest on Promised Land include Greg Leisz, Suzanne Vega and Gary Louris from The Jayhawks.
Promised Land is released on Razor & Tie.
