Lush orchestrated pop comes drifting in from Brooklyn. Emanuel and The Fear is a band fronted by Emanuel Ayvas who absorbed composers like Beethoven and Rachmaninoff. Want to bet that he owns a lot of Brian Wilson records? He knows how to hold back, using various percussion instruments for Jimme's Song peppered with a bit of flute and acoustic guitar, singing that he only want to be in a rock band - "doing nothing at all", adding more instruments as the song marches on, before taking yet another left turn to spoken word, and minimalist turntable-ism.
A self-titled EP serves as a forerunner fo a full-length. Getting all contributing the musicians on stage will be challenge, but that's a problem that will soon be solved when word about the band begins to spread and bigger venues can be booked. And filled.
