Austin Lucas, an Americana singer from Bloomington, Indiana, grew up in a punk/hardcore environment and some of the anger of those genres shines through on his country-tinged Somebody Loves You album.
With a voice that brings back memories of Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, Lucas is very much in command of his songs. Tasty fiddle and steel guitar are prominent in the mix, but it's his acoustic guitar that drives the songs forward - particularly in the uptempo Wash My Sins Away and the pensive Precious Little Heart. Recommended if you like singers like Danny Schmidt.
Somebody Loves You is released on Suburban Home Records.
