Aussie indie band The Middle East from Townsville, Queensland, have made an EP with a big name. The Recordings of The Middle East has only five tracks, ranging from ethereal musings to post-rock (well, almost).
Working in a segment dominated by acts like The Decemberists and The Fleet Foxes they throw in glockenspiel and hand percussion, with the dreamy vocals sung with a pitch perfect falsetto giving them an edge. The backing vocals on the other hand are all over the place, climbing up and down the scales like kids on their last of school before the Summer holidays. This EP doesn't hit the ground running, but comes walking by in a leisurely way.
