Folk artists Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka and Lucy Kaplansky teamed to record each other songs and a couple of choice covers, including Neil Young's I Am A Child. Operating under the Red Horse banner the resulting self-titled album is a dead ringer for Best of 2011 lists.
It's a rare treat to assemble three fiercely independent buys artist in the same room. There are no song that feature all three singers on the same track, but each of them has captured the feel of the songs like they had written it themselves. They sing four songs each, one of their own, a cover and two written by one of the other two.
Highlights are Lucy Kaplansky with Gorka's Blue Chalk, John Gorka with Gilkyson's Wild Horse and Gylkison singing Kaplansky's Promise Me. All of them have an extensive back catalog. Let's hope they find the time to do it again,
