Centrepoint: 1969 Key to Change

Charity records are as a breed a mixed bag of great songs and horrendous contributions. With 1969 Key to Change Uk Youth Homelessness Charity Centrepoint hopes to raise funds to cover the costs of supporting about 800 young people on a daily basis. They followed the contributors all over the globe to let them record a cover of song that was originally recorded in 1969.

The truly awful: Space Oddity by Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Give A Peace A Change by Speech Debelle; the cheesy: Chain Of Loves by Hucknall (yup, the former Simply Red singer); the pleasant surprises: the acoustic Build Me Up Buttercup by Frank Dillard, Kevin Ayers revisiting Girl On A Swing with his daughter Galen; not half bad: Gimme Shelter by Pleasure Mob, and finally the really great: Tendency To Be Free by Johnny Marr. The rest of it is mostly harmless. Buying this album as whole will make the listener feel better, going digital picking separate tracks is a safe route to ensure musical enjoyment also.
