NYC Singer-songwriter Jay Banerjee is into he early Beatles big time when it come to his music. His lyrics however, are dripping with arsenic laced with sugar. Women who have let him down are immortalized on his debut full-length, a step forward after his demo Three Songs. He is still a lone wolf, playing almost everything himself. Producer Micheal Lynch added a bit of harmonica, keys, handclaps and some backing vocals.
Banerjee has put up the money to hire a decent mastering guy, who managed a clearer sound while preserving the garage/living room feel of the recordings. The Sixties till rule supreme in Banerjee piece of the Universe, urging him to list this songs as being part of side 1 and 2 on the cover art of the CD. And yes, that harmonica bit in The Boy In Hand owes a lot to the Fab Four's Please Please Me.
Being a loner is set aside when he plays live as Jay Banerjee & The Heartthrobs, who don't get out much. Better not miss the CD release party on November 6.
