A young band sounding old (and young, too). Hamilton quartet Harlan Pepper are a blast from the past, cooking up a heady mixture of county, bluegrass, folk, psychedelic pop and stoner rock. Their songs have a lazy, confident swagger that belies their age. Only the vocals are a dead giveaway, but a steady diet of hard living and playing will take care of that.
Young and Old is an album that restores the harmonica and the organ as a major instruments. It's a nice sounding album that will keep you warm while driving through a snowy night.
Harlan Pepper:
Jimmy Hayes: guitar, pedal steel, harmonica
Dan Edmonds: banjo, keys, vocals
Thompson Wilson: bass, vocals
Marlon Nicolle: drums, vocals
