Lancaster, PA, singer-songwriter Adam Taylor made some waves with his debut EP Play The Piano Drunk. The follow-up "No Poet" is a mini album with seven songs showcasing his wry sense of humour. Getting his brother Chad (who used to be in Live) to produce was a gamble that paid off handsomely. No big arena sound, but a down home folk vibe.
Taylor has a way with words and is a sleek observer, writing about the existential angst that nearly strikes down the protagonist after moving to the big city (New York). Let's hope he can keep coming up with lines such as "The rain loves Seattle, but Seattle killed Kurt Cobain" (Story of the Sea-Green Sky Part Two). Citing Charles Bukowski as a major influence he conjures up life time stories with just a few choice words. His music goes beyond guy-with-a guitar sound. There's also a bit of Ernio Morricone (Spaghetti Western) and Cyndi Lauper disco pop (Jazzonia).
Adam Taylor: vocals, guitar
Kate Young: guitar
Jon Fritchey: guitar
Michael Giblin: bass
Jason Hoffheins: drums
