Dutch hardcore punk singer clashing with classically trained brass, wood wind and strings musicians. A concept that has disaster area written all over it, but singer Bob Fosko and Het Kollektief Roest & Wrakhout pull it off. The classical guys play loud and dirty and Fosko is a singer's coach nigthmare, singing his head off in a way, stretching his vocal chords like he used to do when he fronted the Raggende Manne.
It all started when Fosko and members of the Ricciotti Ensemble happened to be sharing the bill of the 3daysON festival. Organizers Productiehuis Oost-Nederland suggested a collaboration and Ben Mathot (violin) arranged three songs and they were off. Klassiek Raggen was recorded at the Dureco Studio in Weesp, a mixed bag of Raggende Manne and Bob Fokso Groep songs, with a few covers thrown in, including a subdued version of Telkens Weer, Jan Boezeroen's hard liquor lament De Fles and Levi Wemoedt's Achterblijvers.
Klassiek Raggen is released on ONusual Records. Release date: April 1st. Also available: a limited 7 with Poep in je hoofd, Achterblijvers and Nee's niks.
