Legendary piano ace Joseph "Pinetop" Perkins died yesterday in his home in Austin, Texas, of an apparent heart attack. He was 97. Perkins played with Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, B.B. King and Jerry Lee Lewis. He was a performer who never stopped playing, hitting the stage a couple of nights a week at Nuno's on Sixth Street in Austin.
