The new Patti Smith album Banga drops June 5 on Columbia Records. It's her first album with original material in eight years. The album was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City and produced by Patti Smith and her band: Tony Shanahan, Jay Dee Daugherty and Lenny Kaye. Guests include Tom Verlaine, Jack Petruzzelli, adn Smith's kids Jackson and Jesse Paris.
The album contains songs about Amy Winehouse (This is the Girl) and Johnny Depp (Nine). The first single April Fool can be purchased via iTunes.
