Stoner rockers Stone Axe played last year's edition of the Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, The Netherlands. The festival is a gathering of everything cool and heavy, attracting visitors from all over the globe. It sells out before the line-up is even announced. For those who got shut out it's good news that their set has been preserved on the new album Captured Live! Roadburn Festival 2011.
It was the final show of the European tour for the Port Orchard, WA quartet, but traveling all over the old continent didn't slow them down . They hit the ground running with the double whammy Stonin' > On With The Show. They play fan favorites - There'd be Days, We Know It's Still Rock 'N' Roll and take a few breathers Chasing Dragons and the slow rumbling psychedelic work-out Skylah Rae, which incidentally is still a bit short with running of a little over 5 minutes - it's a song you don't want to end.
The live recording was produced by the band's guitar player Tony Reed, who knows how to get sound that packs a punch. The album sounds loud even when played at medium volume through shitty car speakers.
Stone Axe:
Dru Brinkerhoff: vocals
Tony Reed: guitar
Mykey Haslip: drums
Mike DuPont: bass
