Texas trio ZZ Top are like the Ramones or Motörhead. They make the same album every time. They may have enlisted Rick Rubin to co-produce their new album La Futura, but singer and gutiar player Billy Gibbons made damn sure that their signature swamp rock sound persevered. ZZ Top have been around since 1969 and no one tells them what to do. They know what works for them and they stick to it
La Futura is their first full-length studio alum since Mescalero (2003). The first four tracks served as the digital only Texicali EP last june. The bluesy swagger of Heartache In Blue, the roadhouse blues feel of songs like Flyin' High and Consumption and the slow It's Too Easy Mañana are proof that ZZ Top still got it. Never change a winning team.
ZZ Top:
Billy Gibbons: guitar and vocals
Dusty Hill: bass and vocals
Frank Beard: drums
