Brooklyn musician Kabir Kumar has released his debut single Tang b/w Big Man. Using Injun Magic as his stage name he played everything on the two songs, the only exceptions being Katy Cain's flute and piano by Oliver Ignatius.
As a member of the progressive garage rockers Anna Bradley, he is more straightforward. As a solo artist he can run free and pull out all the stops, splashing around in a well of psychedelica. These two songs would have fitted on a Robyn Hitchcock album, with the spirit of Syd Barrett lurking in the corner. Good to know that people still write about kaleidoscopes in 2013.
Recorded at DIY studio Mama Coco's Funky Kitchen (run by Oliver Ignatius), the current go-to facility for the Big Apple underground, this single needs a limited 7" vinyl release asap.
Tang b/w Big Man is a self-released single. Buy it (pay-what-you-want) from his website.
