John Carrie has a lot say, but he doesn't need to speak up. On his new album Shy Away, his first as a solo artist after releasing two albums with his band Moor Green, the Irish singer-songwriter has come up with the prefect soundtracks for rainy Fall days. Being a musical expat living in The Netherlands, he sings about the Green Isle and evasive representatives of the fairer sex. He has a tender voice that goes well with the acoustic tracks- he might get into trouble when he turns it up playing electric.
Stand-out tracks are the melancholic Split Wide Open and the old school folk song You Are My Sky. The album's opener Coming Back To Life is his business card for his vocal reach. Recommended if you like Danny Schmidt.
