When the orginal 4CD box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience hit the shops in 2000 it was welcomed as the first proper release of tons of unreleased tracks, outtakes and live versions. Fans had to wait until 2010 for another box set: the even better West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology.
Long out-of-print The Jimi Hendrix Experience will be re-released on August 20, with four extra tracks. Yes, only four of them and none of them new for that matter:
- A 1968 live performance of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" that Hendrix's played at San Francisco's Winterland;
- Original studio version of "Peace in Mississippi," previously available only as the B-side of the 2010 "Valleys of Neptune" single
- Rare 1967 live rendition of "Burning of the Midnight Lamp"
- the original U.K. single mix of "The Stars That Play with Laughing Sam's Dice." (first ever official USA release)
