It took them about a year to record, using the studio of resident genius Choca Alcazaba in their hometown Rotterdam and the Jazzrock studio in Koh Tao, Thailand, but it was well worth the wait. BLORDINOX VEDA, the latest release from Dutch adventurous experimentalists The New Earth Group is a one track monster that has written desert island disc written all over it. Released on vinyl, the listener get s breather when he needs to get up to turn the album over, while the digital goes straight on for 44 minutes. Dub, jazz, rock guitar, a hint of metal, spoken word, funk, Arabian rhythms and much, much more. It is a cornucopia of sounds and ideas - soothing, pleasing and scaring.
Where will they go next after pulling off such an ambitious feat? Hats off to composer Choca Alcazaba (and Jos Hoevenaars who wrote the music for the final five minutes). Accessible avant-garde and an essential purchase for everyone who is serious about music.
BLORDINOX VEDA is a self-released album. Buy it from their website.
