A mix of British Sixties R&B and modern day dance, that's what LA trio The Mercy Beat are supposed to sound like. Not true, their self-titled debut EP is smack in the middle of the mainstream, with a bubbling synth back beat and falsetto vocals. Boy band fodder posing as a hipster band. Like John Cusack says in High Fidelity: "I don't wanna hear old sad bastard music, Barry, I just want something I can ignore". This band will do.
The Mercy Beat is released thru Oskar Recordings.
