Paris based post-rockers Utopium had been lying low for a couple of years before releasing a video for their new song Stardust in 2013. With band members from all over the globe (Russia, Mexico and France) a hodgepodge of styles would be in order, but they've settled once more for a slow moving, dystopian sound on their just released self-titled album.
The band takes their cues from The Cure (especially in Chase Them Out), Mogwai and My Bloody Valentine. Rather bleak but captivating stuff that will be appreciated by fans of psychedelic shoegaze.
Utopium:
Maxime Petrovski: guitars, vocals
Tito de Pinho: bass, keyboards, programming, backing vocals
Guillaume Labaume: drums
Andres Soto: guitars, organ, soundscapes, backing vocals
