Chicago ensemble Cooler by the Lake is like an all-you-can-eat restaurant, provided you order a dish that was huge in the Seventies. Fronted by singer Rory Lake, a promoter who hosts raucous karaoke bars, the band touches base with Eric Burdon & War, early Van Halen, Alice Cooper, the Tubes, Genesis ca. 1976 and radio-friendly punk.
Summer's Over is a concept album of sorts - about a musician who wants to make a concept album - but first and foremost it's a bunch a songs that celebrates classic rock before it became a genre. Best enjoyed in the company of good friends and a sufficient supply of choice beverages.
