Bass Player Magazine has an interview with Les Claypool:
I’ve always said that bass is the crayon I picked out the box. I’d still be drawing the same picture if I picked up guitar or whatever, but it’d look a little different because it’d be another crayon. For me, it’s how I express myself sonically—that and my voice— in the easiest manner: 4-string bass. It’s a little more of a wrassle with 6-string, but 4-string, I can just pick it up and shit comes out. I don’t even have to think about it.
