Canadian soul singer Chloe Charles is blessed with a great range and tone. Her new album With Blindfolds On is a carefully orchestrated sentimental journey, telling tales of love lost and regaining strength, with wall to wall strings on one track and sparse accompaniment on the other.
Charles sounds confident and in control throughout. It is a step up from her previous album Break The Silence, a record that showed a lot of promise but lacked direction. Now she faces her demons (Run Your Course)and embraces her desires (Take Me Naked, Fans). Recommended if you like Joan Armatrading.
