Dutch guitarist Edwin de Herder delved into electronics and drum programming for Subcutaneous, the new album of his Dansfabriek project. Like the medical procedure after which the record was named, the tracks get under the listener's skin.
Enlisting a handful of female singers (Grieke Zijlstra, Paulette Kooijman, Mariette Zabel, Baruch de Herder) to provide the words in English and Dutch was a smart move, softening the blow of the harsh samples and beats. Subcutaneous is an ambient record that can be disturbing, sexy and trippy.
Subcutaneous is a self-released album. Buy it from their website.
