Ian Fisher: Nero

American alt-country musician Ian Fisher is a road rat. Berlin is his current port of call, but he is rarely at home. He spends most of his time on the road, playing shows for audiences who like old school country with a bit of folk and indie pop. His new album Nero is a serious affair. While traversing the globe Fisher got angry, pleasantly surprised, fell in and out of love and immersed himself in the history of places he visited, such as the mad Roman emperor after whom the album was called. Many people have dreamt of burning down their hometown, but Nero actually did it.

Fisher sings about wasted opportunities (Constant Vacation) and stripping down to the bare essentials that are needed to have a nice life (All Ya Need), heartbreak as a blessing in disguise (Almost Darlin') and feeling lonely on the road (Just Like a Stranger). With his nasal delivery, ample use of Ollie Samland's pedal steel guitar and Ryan Thomas Carpenter's ability to play almost anything Fisher can be a troubadour backed by a full band. Recommended if you a hybrid of Harry Nilsson, George Jones and late Sixties Bob Dylan.

Ian Fisher: lead vocals, acoustic guitar, banjo
Ryan Thomas Carpenter: piano, wurlitzer, acoustic guitar, organ, bass, percussion, banjo, backing vocals
Ollie Samland: pedal steel guitar, dobro, mandolin
Alexia Peniquel: backing vocals
Fabian Kalker: bass, synthesizer
Heta Salkolahti: fiddle on "All Ya Need"
Sven Fritz: fiddle on "Almost Darlin'"
Harmen Ridderbos: backing vocals on "Almost Darlin'"
