Joy Crookes, a seventeen year old singer/songwriter from South London, has all the trappings of making it big in the pop soul scene. Her debut single New Manhattan about the red light district in Brussels is kicked off by a harp, features the vintage sound of a guitar drenched in reverb, a sprinkling of electronics and last but not least a voice that could belong to a singer twice her age. She is a prodigy who has grown up fast. The track was co-written with her producer Michael Percy.
