South African quintet De Wallen have managed to fit in every rock clichë of the Seventies on their new De Wallen 2.0 EP. Aersosmith sold millions of albums filled with this kind of blues based music. Sexual innuendo and posturing are essential to hammer home the machismo message. They haved studied their predecessors religiously, even going as far as naming themselves after the infamous Red Light district in Amsterdam.
As a means of escape from the daily grind this EP offers about twenty minutes of hard-hitting rock and a token power ballad (Eyes of April's End) to appease the leadies. There are plenty of "yeah's", "shakes", "lips" and "rock 'n' roll" in the lyrics. In other words: what's not to like? Recommended if you like Thin Lizzy, Bad Company and AC/DC.
De Wallen:
Pieter Bekker: guitar
