English poppy punk trio Dream Wife's main topic is sex, but these women were not thrown together be a drooling record company executive hoping to cash in on their looks. They follow the path that was cut through the jungle of the music industry by band like The Slits and X-Ray Spex, and - more recently - Skinny Girl Diet.
Rakel Mjöll (lead vocals), Alice Go (guitar, vocals) and Bella Podpadec (bass, vocals). are a three-headed live monster who managed to catch the excitement of their live shows on their self-titled debut album, giving one-fingered salute to all who cower in front of their self-assured attitude. Recommended if you like high-octane feminist rock served at ear-shattering volume. Yes, it about sex, but the initiative to move to the next stage is on their side all of the time.
Dream Wife is released on Lucky Number Musi (vinyl, CD, digital). Release date: January 26ht.
