A Certain Smile are a highly melodic, fuzzy indie pop band from Portland, OR. With mixed down, slightly distorted vocals, and plenty of echo and reverb applied to the instrumentation, their new album Fits & Starts brings back the heyday of Nineties shoegaze band. Back then the lines between being optimistic or pessimistic where drawn depending on one's mental well-being and economic perspectives.
Their songs deal with the need for change - We Want the World, and those in power are prone to witty sarcasm when they take aim at the Leisure Class. It's not all that serious. They can appreciate a Summer Blonde and show some understanding for the lure of Mexican Coke as well.
A Certain Smile:Thomas: vocals, guitar
