Jeffrey Halford & The Healers play old school Americana, the story telling kind on their new album West Towards South. It's a road trip during which Halford is the guide, with his gravelly voice never stops to entertain with tales about women, travel, trouble and crime. It's an album about getting over the head with a wide variety of mishaps and bad breaks, but also about not giving in, cause good things could happen any day now.
Halford's love for country and blues is the main sources for his music, but as a lyricist he uses far more words than is usual in that genre. Kris Kristofferson and Jim White come the mind, although the latter's sense of humour is missing from his outlook on life.
West Towards South is released Floating Records. European distribution via Sonic Rendezvous.
