Houston, TX lo-fi quartet Low Horizon released their No-fi Tape EP last year as a work-in-progress, buit now it turns out to be part of something bigger, a full album called Eternal Depressed Summer written by the band's singer and guitarist John Gottlieb.
He found himself in some kind of limbo in 2017. His college years were already becoming a distant memory, settling down wasn't really happening and the American Dream had failed toe materialize. Lethargy and boredom were the order of the day, but it inspired him to write a stack of succinct garage rockers with self-explanatory titles like Starting Tomorrow and On My Couch. Recording these songs with his supportive band mates was like therapy, but a lot more fun. Eternal Depressed Summer is a heartfelt, cheerful sounding album about feeling down.
