Towner are in sync with the noisy garage rock that has been made in their hometown Ann Arbor, MI since the late Sixties. Their self-titled debut EP barrels through four tracks with the kind of energy that is part of their loud live shows. No frills, but warts and all it captured it was captured mostly live, with the bass as the stand-out instrument whil all four members are singing their hearts out in a demented version of the power pop harmonies filtered through Pixies and Big Star leanings.
Spontaneity is key on this release any garage rock fan who is worth his of her salt, should add it to the collection without hesitation. With their fuzzy feedback galore and simple, but highly effective, hooks they might the best band to come out of Ann Arbor since the glory days of The Stooges.
Towner is released via Crush Grove Records (CD, cassette, digital).
