Dutch retro-pop duo Donna Blue sing about the struggle to create something worthwhile on their new single Desert Lake. The song was inspired by a famous Henry James quote from his short story The Middle Years: "We work in the dark, we do what we can, we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art".
Danique van Kesteren and Bart van Dalen went for the same feel they used for Arlene's, mixing the sound of Sixties French pop with the dangerous country championed by Johnny Cash and Ry Cooder. Things are going well for now, but it could all end without proper advance warning. It makes for captivating listening.
Desert Lake is released via Snowstar Records.
