Dutch folk singer Geri van Essen takes a look at her younger self on her 23/32 single. She recorded it at home, with Elizabeth Clough (violin) and Stefan Breuer (keyboards, bass) added their parts this year. Van Essen wrote the song as she was walking up the stairs to her London apartment, humming into her phone. People always want to be younger or older and she found a way that capture that discontent.
23/32 will be included on her as yet untitled new album, due for release on Tiny Room Records. The video was made by Holly Birtles.
