Brooklyn based producer and musician Charlie Nieland is a busy man, but he managed to record another solo album, Divisions, due for release on January 31. He is a longtime contributor to The Bushwick Book Club, a circle of friends writing songs about a book they have read. For his album he choose The Hidden Life of Trees: What they Feel, How they Communicate: Discoveries from a Secret World by German forester and author Peter Wohlleben.
The lead single (and title track) is now available on Bandcamp. Playing lap steel, electric guitars, electric piano, Korg MS20 synth, piano, virtual mellotron, synths, percussion, and handling vocals Nieland only needed Brian Geltner on drums to create the dream pop meets post-rock textures on this track, where intricacy and force are competing for the spotlights.
