Gerry Marsden, leader of Merseybeat band Gerry and the Pacemakers, is dead at 78. He scored huge hits in the early Sixties with songs like How Do You Do It?, I Like It and Ferry Cross the Mersey. But it was the cover of You'll Never Walk Alone that will be forever associated with him. The song was adopted by Liverpool FC as their anthem, and tons of other football teams all over the world followed suit.
