Paul Kasner, a Montreal based multi-instrumentalist, took his time to put together the tracks for the self-titled album by his Venus Furs project. Lead single New Inspiration is a slice of melodic shoegaze about how to deal with a friend who clearly does need help, but refuses it firmly. Kasner is a well-read man, who could not resist inserting a line from Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray into the lyrics: "Casually he introduces himself / As the wild son of love and death". Clearly the friend is a lost cause, but like a big accident it is not possible to look away from it.
The video was made by Justis Krar. The album is released via Silk Screaming Records (vinyl, CD, digital).
