Los Angeles-based Tim Kobza is an in-demand guitarist and teacher. Finding the time to go out his own as a composer and artist is a bit of challenge, but somehow he got the tracks for his album Montecito Heights done. Lead single Tranquilo is a blend of laidback funk and jazz, easy enough on the ears to be embraced by the mainstream, but with just enough bite to get the attention of listeners who are actually paying attention. He played all the guitar and bass parts, and handled the programming. Herman Matthews (drums) and Brian Hargrove (keyboards) filled in the rest.
Tranquilo is a self-released single. Buy it from his website. The Montecito Heights album will be released on June 14.
