When singer-songwriter Jim Knable found himself roped in to join the impromptu house band that came to life during a short stay in Washington State, he quickly wrote a song about the Moclips Beach Hotel, a laidback jazzy tune mixing the history of the old one that was washed away in 1908 and the current lodging facilities. His brother-in-law uses it as a base for a yearly reunion of college friends and some of them are professional musicians. Dennis Tevlin is also an engineer, so getting a band together was in the cards right of the bat. Knable's nephew Nick Chang makes his recording debut at age 16, playing trumpet. It is a lovely song, deserving its own paragraph at least in the Great Amercican Songbook.
