Dutch avant-pop singer Pitou has a soft spot for rhythms that aren't stock in Western popular music. As a kid she fell in love with the sounds she heard in Cameroon and India and it became an integral of her musical vocabulary.
On her latest single, Big Tear, she explores a mix of classical music with a bit of indie rock. She sounds like no one else, or perhaps a lot of artists (Bjork, Kate Bush, Tori Amos) at the same time. She went down the rabbit hole and resurfaced with something very special indeed.
Big Tear is available on all the usual digital outlets. The video was directed by Michiel Venmans & Jaan Stevens.
