Another example of Lou Reed's early demos has hit the streaming services. This May 1965 version of Heroin comes close to country rock. It will be included on Words & Music on August 26 via Light In The Attic Records in conjunction with the Lou Reed Archive. Words & Music contains recordings of songs that would turn up on albums by The Velvet Underground and his solo output. John Cale features on some of the tracks as well.
This is not the first time that early recordings are being released. The first disc of the Peel Slowly And See box set also contains material from 1965.
Words & Music will be released on vinyl (limited yellow, black), deluxe vinyl (45 RPM 2LP), CD, 8-Track, and Digital. The unevitable T-shirts, totebags and slipmats are also available for pre-order.
