Manchester art-rock quintet Mewn take their time to tell a complicated tale on their new single, There Is No Substitute, taking cues from bands like Echo and the Bunnymen and The Decemberists. They are not afraid to go in at the deep end, questioning the influence of other people on one's major life decisions and not going your own way, which could have been the smarter choice in the long run. They don't provide a definite answer, because there isn't one, but following their train of thought on this long-form track - a little over 8 minutes - is highly enjoyable.
There Is No Substitute is released via Simonie Records. Available on all the usual digital outlets. It is a track from their upcoming Such As This EP, due for release on September 23rd.
