American-English duo Persona only need their voices and guitar to create off-kilter art-punk. On their single, Old Man, Young Woman, Raquel Vogl and Claire Williams discuss the male dominance in the music world, even in enlightened genres like experimental pop and punk. They have been confronted with this firsthand. The track is pushed forward by a repetitive guitar motif, grounding the tinkling percussion and floating vocals.
The song was selected by the folks at Emotional Response Records for inclusion on the sixth installment of their Typical Girls series, due for release on October 28th. It is available for pre-order here (red vinyl, black vinyl, digital).
