Johnny Dowd has released a recording of the full set he played @ Porchfest in his hometown Ithaca, NY, on September 25 this year. He played a couple of long time favourites, like God Created Woman and the murder ballad First There Was a Funeral, songs from his latest album Homemade Pie (Silk Scarf, Call Me the Wind) and a bunch of new stuff, all of them bearing his signature black humour twist. Some of those songs might end up on the new album he is recording in Memphis with Amy LaVere and Will Sexton.
No edits, no clean-ups, some false starts, a few wisecracks, no separate tracks for that matter. This is as close as you'll get to having Johnny playing in the comfort of your own home.
Porchfest Live Show is a self-released album. Buy it from his website. Release date: January 1.
