Hong Kong British artist mui zyu, nom-de-plume of Eva Liu, creates a special brand of lo-fi, jazzy dreampop on her new single Sore Bear, using fuzz and dissonants to pull the listener into her world. It is a tale about love, loss and being OK with that. Battles are lost, but it is no use to get stuck in grief. Another change to come up on top will come along soon. Luciano Rossi, her bandmate from London based off-kilter band Dama Scout, played the piano and took care of all the programming.
Sore Bear is a track from her forthcoming first solo full-length, Rotten Bun for an Eggless Century via Father/Daughter Records. It is available for pre-order here (coloured vinyl, CD, digital). Release date: February 24th. The animated video was made by Danny Grant.
Live dates:- 03/01 London, UK @ Servant Jazz Quarters
- 03/10 Austin, TX @ South by Southwest (SXSW)
