Portsmouth post-punk quartet Hallan were inspired by Svetlana Alexievich's debut novel for their fast-paced new single Unwomanly Face Of War, in which she describes the horrors women were facing in the Second World War when they were called up to fight. It is a piece of history that might repeat self, and the song serves as a stern warning that it might happen again if the powers that be get desperate enough.
Unwomanly Face Of War is released via Nice Swan Records. It is track from their new EP The Noise Of A Firing Gun, due for release on March 31. The video was made by Lara Kester.
