English quirky pop trio The Happy Somethings are poking at things in one song and taking a stand in the next on their new album A Gathering of All Sorts. Presenter Jimmy Saville gets a posthumous spanking for his acts as a sexual predator in Our TV Times. On the other hand: Anglepoise might well be the first song about the balanced-lamp that became a design classic.
They know what they like and are not afraid it with the world, hence the craving for More Coffee, and enjoying finding something out of the ordinary on the wireless in Radio Broadcast. Their adoration for the former Everything but the Girl singer is honoured by two songs - the upbeat I Wish You Could Sing Like Tracey Thorn and the slow I Wish I Could Sing Like Tracey Thorn. It is all delivered on a bedding of catchy pop for their three-part harmonies.
A Gathering of All Sorts is released via Subjangle.
