Wilmington, NC based surf rock quintet Kicking Bird doesn't try to hide their influences on their debut album Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, taking a bow to bands like the Pixies, Weezer, Silversun Pickups, Cheap Trick, and The Presidents of the United States of America. They look back fondly at their younger selves, when connecting with the one they were admiring from afar was a pipe dream. O, and the parents of the prospective significant other would put up the next hurdle if need be.
The band boasts three vocalists, so they can switch from to passive-aggressive rock (Talking to Girls (On the Internet), Stuck) to bittersweet 60s pop (Ripp Off) without missing a beat. Picking a lead single is next to impossible, because this is an A-sides only collection that surely will get the party started.
Kicking Bird:
Shaun Paul: guitar, bass, vocals
Shaylah Paul: keyboards, vocals
Robin Cooksley: guitar
Greg Blair: drums
Tom Michels: bass, guitar, vocals
