Yinka Oyewole of London rock act Sabatta lets rip on his new maxi-single, Get Your Shit Together, milking the last drop out of his fuzz and wah-wah boxes to make a hard-hitting, funky rocker in true in guitar hero style. Imagine Black Sabbath having a ball with Living Colour. The title track is a call-to-arms to either saviour the moment and not get distracted (at least not too much) by chemical enhancement options, or not giving a fuck and going all-in. It is a classic struggle between two voices in his head, one egging him on and the other trying to stop him..
There is also a version with "shit" bleeped out rather abruptly, Oyewole obviously couldn't care less to come up a radio-friendly edit. The video contains the full version - blame YouTube for frowning upon using "shit" in the title, because it cuts into their ad revenue schemes. The real surprise on the maxi-single is the B-side Blow, a slow song that could be mistaken for a long lost mid-70s classic and a showcae for his dexterity on his collection of six-strings. He is smoldering lyrically, but he resisted the temptation to shout out loud, making it an intense listening experience.
Get Your Shit Together is a self-released single. Buy it (pay-what-you-want) from their website. It is a first taste from forthcoming new album How To Get Even, due for release on November 7.
