Few bands are able to combine post-punk with grand gestures, but Mewn is surely one of them. The English quintet go against the grain by releasing a sprawling single. Ask Me Now has all the quiet desperation of Pulp, wrapped in layers of keyboards and sad guitars. Progressive indie that finds the middle ground between Steven Wilson-alike soundscapes, a seasoning of early Radiohead, and Northern soul. It is experimental, but you use it for a slow dance or cry in your drink if that's more appropriate.
Ask Me Now is released via Modern Sky UK. It is the title track from their forthcoming EP.
